

The term “chiropractic” combines the Greek words "cheir" (hand) and "praxis" (action) to describe a treatment done by hand. Hands-on care -especially adjustment of the spine- is central to the practice of chiropractic. Chiropractic is a primary contact health care profession that is well established in a number of countries around the world. Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the body’s structure -mainly the spine- and it’s functioning. Chiropractors offer an approach, that uses neither drugs nor surgery, but instead focuses on providing adjustments to the spine with the goal of correcting functional and alignment problems and supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. There are over 200 named chiropractic adjusting techniques that aim to correct subluxations. The majority of those 200 named techniques are performed by the principal chiropractic adjusting instrument: the hands.
